Testimonials
from Past and Present Athletes
Name: Mike
DeNoma
Age: 50
Background: CEO, Consumer Banking Standard Chartered
Bank, Singapore
Coached by Brendon for 2 years
Quote: "I
never thought I'd be able to do an Ironman, I travel
a lot and have some heavy work days. Brendon's been
able to understand my world and tailor a program and
develop a long term plan to assist me, firstly complete
a Marathon, an Olympic Triathlon, then an ½ Ironman
and then finally an Ironman. Having the ability to call
and email as needed I was able to get help juggling
my training as needed. Now I'm training for the Marathon
De Sables and the Furnace 508 Bike Ride, life's too
short to get your coaching and training wrong, this
was why I sought out such an experienced and enthusiastic
coach as Brendon. Don't settle for a local fitness instructor
when you can have the best!"
Name: Rebecca
Spence
Age:17
Background and Results: Triathlon for 3 years
Coached by Brendon for 3 years
New Zealand Junior Champion 2005, 2006
2nd World Junior Tri Champs 2005
World Time Trial Cycling Champion 2006
World Junior Duathlon Champion 2005, 2006
Oceania U23 Triathlon Champion (36.04 for the 10km)
2006
Quote: "I've
been working with Brendon for the past 3 years, in that
time I've remained injury free, yet have worked hard
enough and done smart training that's drawn the best
out of me. Brendon's been able to get the best out of
me not just physically but helped me understand the
tactics of the sport. Brendon was the difference between
a medal at the world junior championships and being
just another competitor. I'm looking forward to working
with him towards the 2006 ITU World Junior Championships.
Even though we live in different countries now, he's
been easy to get hold of and been able to advise me.
I wouldn't use anyone else."
Name: Tracey
Richardson
Age: 41
Background: mother of 4 children, completely unfit,
badly overweight.
Results / Events: Ironman New Zealand 2004, Ironman
Hawaii 2004
Quote: "I
once had a crazy idea to do an Ironman. Despite the
fact that I could only run/walk 3km, swim a few hundred
meters and bike on a mountain bike about 15 kms, Brendon
listened to my underlying reasons for wanting to undertake
this momentous challenge and agreed to help get me physically
ready for what lay ahead. And wow what a challenge for
us both it turned out to be, as I instigated a full
blown fundraising campaign, media spectacular and personal
crusade in order to draw attention to Cystic Fibrosis,
a condition 2 of my children are afflicted with. But
despite all the naysayers and doubters who scoffed at
me and said it can't be done, Brendon remained my one
strong force of consistent positivity helping me break
the unachievable down to the achievable. The finish
line honours his time as well as mine.
When I learnt
I had been invited to compete at the Ironman World Championships
the very same year and to be featured in a TV documentary
that would be viewed by 50 million people in the USA,
there was one person I rang first. Brendon. Could we
do it again on a much harder and hotter scale? Physically
I had my doubts as I was still so inexperienced but
Brendon assured me it was possible and prepared the
plan. And possible it was, not only did I finish but
I did so in a PB time, taking 30 mins off my previous
Ironman finish, the only member of the NZ team to do
so. Brendons coaching was so consistent and incremental
that I stayed injury free for the whole 2 years, and
dare I say it almost got to enjoy running!
But more importantly
his friendship, support and belief in my journey provided
me with a level of support that no money could buy.
